Program Objectives

Innovation, Coordination and Enhancement (ICE) is a competitive funding program established as part of the Mass Transit Funding and Reform legislative package (P.A. 95-0708), enacted in January 2008 by the State of Illinois. The program's objectives are to:
  • Enhance the coordination and integration of public transportation
  • Develop and implement innovations to improve the quality and delivery of public transportation
  • Provide attractive, high-quality, innovative transit choices that link people to jobs and facilitate the use of transit for other trips
  • Increase the amount of transit service provided
  • Serve more of the region's travel markets using innovative approaches as appropriate and increase the ease of connection between different transit providers by coordinating service, fares, information and physical connections
