Program Objectives

The Community Planning program provides funding and planning assistance to communities at the local level for planning projects that benefit both the local communities and the regional transportation system.

Services offered include the creation of transit-oriented development plans, transit-oriented development guidelines, local transit improvement plans for bus and rail and integrated transportation and land use plans.

Prospective projects shall involve appropriate partners and support aspects of several RTA and CMAP agency goals.  The program looks to fund projects that address the following goals / policies:

  • CMAP’s GO TO 2040 Plan
  • RTA Housing and Jobs Policy
  • RTA Transit-Oriented Development Policy
  • RTA Strategic Plan – Core Goals
  • RTA Service Coordination Policy
  • Transit Improvement Project Principles
  • Emphasis on CMAP’s GOTO 2040 Livable Communities Goals
  • Emphasis on CMAP’s GOTO 2040 Regional Mobility Goals
